The Auroloide version of the Optima range has been created using antique materials and features hand-finished trims and great attention down to the smallest detail.
The cap and barrel in all versions are made of marbled Auroloide, an antique material, yet refined and prestigious.
This fountain pen uses the classic filler pump filling system with the Aurora exclusive hidden reservoir device. When you run out of ink, just turn the end of the pen anticlockwise and your Aurora will write another page. Additionally, you can leave the end turned to remind you to fill the pen.
Reminiscent of the elegance and sobriety of the historic pen of the Thirties – an authentic legend in its time – the new Optima maintains its unique line and all of its charm to become, once again, a cult object for men and women who know how to choose.

Un très beau stylo

L'harmonie de gris, de noir et d"argent" lui donne à la fois un aspect luxueux et (relativement !) discret qui n'est pas sans rappeler certains Pelikan hauts de gamme. Le corps est assez long pour moi qui ne met jamais le capuchon derrière. La plume est plus souple que "flexible", et très humide : gare aux papiers poreux ! Elle est très agréable même si elle a une certaine présence. Ce n'est pas le côté glissant des japonais, mais j'apprécie beaucoup. Le remplissage ne pose pas de problème, et comme le bloc-plume peut se dévisser, je pense que le changement d'encre sera simple.
Aurora avec ce stylo mérite sa réputation !

What can one say about the Aurora Fountain Pen Company ? A family-run concern that produces outstanding writing instruments & inks. Today’s pen in question is the Optima 996CG Auroloide in grey; aesthetically pleasing, with subliminally decorative accents, & beautifully understated; grey is one of my go-to colours - it is sober & industrious - which, in terms of the utility of (all pens that I own) satisfies.
In my particular example, I chose a Medium nib ~ 14K; smooth, yet with just the right amount of feedback, so that you’re aware of what you’re writing with. An elegant scribe - testament to the build quality - of which Aurora excels. The range of nibs available is extensive - a rare commodity in this new era of fountain pen production, & that is a key component for my attraction to their brand; as far as I am concerned, they are the prime Italian pen manufacturer; attention to detail is their default.
The writing experience is superlative, combined with fine balance in the hand, & light enough to enjoy many hours of continuous writing.
This is my fourth Aurora to date; doubtless that it shall not be my last….Italy’s heritage in your hand.
Finally, thanks go to the excellent Iguana Sell Customer Care Team for their unstinting efforts in providing salient details about each pen I purchase; friendly demeanour & after sales provision - nothing is too much trouble. Excellent !
