Happy Bastille Day!

Today it's the National Day of France, also known as Bastille Day.

During today parades, concerts and fireworks will celebrate the country. But, do you know the origins and why it was baptized as Bastille Day?

In 1789 the storming of the Bastille took place. The French invaded the Bastille, Paris' prison during King Louis XVI's reign, the symbol of his absolute power. His fight had the objective of finishing with the King's power and liberating France. This battle turned out as a victory, and all prisoners were released.

A year later in 1790 Louis XVI and General Lafayett swore the constitution of monarchy and established France's frist republic. After this a party of four days was celebrated where wine, fireworks and music prasing liberty,.

Since then the 14th of July became France's National Day!

This Friday at Iguana Sell we join this celebration and dedicate our Friday Outfit to France with products created and inspired by their culture.
