The fountain pen nib is one of the most important parts of the fountain pen. Different nibs offer a wide variety of sizes, so the question that often accompanies the collector is, Is it possible to change the nibs of my fountain pen?
The short answer is, yes. However, it is not as simple as that. Each nib is a masterpiece which takes an admirable work and therefore is very delicate, and although it is possible to change the nibs, it all depends on the brand and the model you have.

Not all nibs work the same, that is why it is extremely important to know the model of the nib, and even if two nibs have the same mechanism, this does not mean that the nibs are compatible.
The most common system for changing nibs is the screw system. Visconti, Esterbrook and Pelikan nibs generally have this mechanism. The screw system implies that the nib and its feeder are detached from the body by twisting it. In these cases changing the nib is very easy and quick, and can almost certainly be done by you at home.

Other pens require the nib to be detached from the feeder in order to change the nib. It is important to keep in mind that the feeder is an extremely delicate part, usually made of ebonite or plastic, so they are not resistant to force and can break relatively easily. Since each pen has its own system, we do not recommend you to carry out these changes at home, without having previously made sure how to change the nib of your fountain pen.
